Thirdstory's London photo diary

15 December 2016, 08:00

In London for a set of sell-out live shows, the New York-based soul-pop trio share a superb set of photos from their trip, complete with commentary from the band.

Thirdstory's single "G TRAIN" feat. Pusha T is out now via Verve/UMG.

The band will play two hometown shows at Baby's All Right in Brooklyn on 18 and 19 December.

Whenever we have free time, we love to either explore the streets of London or eat the best food we can find.

We’ve heard the London overground is almost as terrible as the G Train.

During this trip, we stayed in Shepherd’s Bush. There wasn’t too much going on near the hotel, but Richard was pretty happy being able to get his daily Nando’s at Westfield.

We were able to slip in a live session at the Welsh Chapel of Shaftesbury Avenue. It was crazy cold inside the church, but we managed to power through a couple of our songs. We’re really excited for our fans to hear how these turn out.

Warming up a bit before the shoot.

Decided to change our song choices at the list minute, and came up with some new arrangements on the taxi ride over to the shoot. Here we are running the arrangements before we start recording.

The acoustics in this massive space were totally gorgeous, and perfect for singing harmonies.

Waiting outside the venue for our first live show of the trip. Each of us has our own pre-show ritual. Before we hit the stage, you can usually find Richard in a meditative state while Ben and Elliott are getting hype and turning up to combat the excitement.

We started off the show with “Grows Old”, featuring live vocal looping, which has been a huge element of our performing and writing process. We’re able to build massive textures by instantly stacking many layers of vocals, which creates a huge, ethereal effect.

The crowd at Omeara brought incredible energy. London always shows us so much love and makes us feel great on stage. We can’t wait to come back to the UK.
