The Dune Rats Guide to Brisbane
Australian punk rockers Dune Rats give us a virtual tour of their scorching home city of Brisbane and its myriad delights.
How would you describe Brisbane?
It's a tropical paradigm. It is a big town - it is good to us and we are good to it.
Who are the best local bands?
It's hard to go past Powder Finger, Violent Soho, DZ DEATHRAYS, The Grates, Regurgitator, and Last Dinosaurs!
What's the best venue?
The best venue to see a band has to be The Tivoli. Its sound is insanely good and the place looks like a million bucks!
Where's the best place to eat?
We love the chicken burgers at Lucky Egg which is found inside a rad venue called The Brightside.
Best place/s to drink?
Crowbar is the best haunt if you're looking for a cheeky drink with good music playing. The staff love a chat and everyone there has a good head on their shoulders!
Who are the local heroes?
Savage Garden is probably the biggest success story to come out of Brissy. Hoping to have a few drinks with the fellas one day.
What are the best sights to see and places to visit?
Kangaroo Point Lookout is a nice view of the city if you want to see the whole city and we reckoned as the sun goes down. After that ya gotta hit Fortitude Valley for some good ol' fashion fun.
How do you get around the city?
The bus always has aircon and goes just about everywhere, still, hard to go past getting an uber so you can see more stuff with ya time there.
Where is the best place to relax?
Scott Green’s.
What's the worst thing about Brisbane?
Sometimes the heat and humidity can get to people, but it's nothing a cold drink and a few laps in the pool can't fix!
What's the best thing about Brisbane?
The people and the relaxed atmosphere of the city has to be the best part of Brisbane. The music scene is on par with any other in Australia and most things are located in just two areas: Fortitude Valley and The City!
