Amanda Delara's guide to Nes
Ahead of her appearance at Thursday's Ja Ja Ja club night, Norway's Amanda Delara takes us on a guide of her local haunts in Nes.
How would you describe Nes to someone who’s never been?
Pretty, peaceful and friendly. <3
What’s the best club?
In Nes we only have like two clubs.. So I guess the “best” club is called La Perla. This is basically where it goes down, where the magic happens, where you might find the love of your life..... :’)
Who are the local heroes?
There aren’t really any local heroes here, but the closest I can get to heroes in this area is my friends. Each and every one of them are my heroes in different ways. I love them so much!
Favorite urban legend/myth?
There is actually a place called Kirkeruiner, and it’s said to be ruled by spirits and stuff at night. The county even put up a warning sign there. It used to be a church (therefore the name "church ruins"), but it burned down. The priest of the church was buried by the ruins, and it’s said that his ghost wanders there at nighttime. Some people claim they’ve seen his shadows, and that their electronic devices turns off when exploring Kirkeruiner at night. I’m pretty happy with my life so I haven’t felt like checking out the place.
What are the best sights to see and places to visit?
Well Kirkeruiner as I mentioned is really pretty at daytime, people have their weddings there! And we have cows here, which is ranked as one of my top three animals!!
Where’s the best place to relax?
Brygga! Or “the bridge” directly translated to English. Daskerud (a small beach) is also a nice place with a lot of good memories. At summertime we gather the gang in motor boats and go to Daskerud for taking a swim and to play volleyball.
What’s the worst thing about Nes?
It’s a bit far away from Oslo. I travel to Oslo almost everyday, because that’s where my work and where the studio is.. But it’s 100% worth it!!
What’s the best thing about Nes?
Haha, that it’s a bit far away from Oslo and all the fuzz. Nes and all the people here always make sure I keep my feet on the ground. Outdistancing yourself from stuff can be a good thing, you know?
