Markland Starkie of Sleeping States recommends… “Elevator” by White Night
“My favourite song this year was probably something off White Night’s self-titled EP that came out a few months ago. To be honest, I don’t really know much about them. My friend Andrew introduced me to their record over the summer. I do know that they’re from Glasgow and they include members of the Royal We (RIP), and their songs make me totally happy. They sound all fun, grrly post-punk, from a time when the term ‘post-punk’ still meant something. Like Delta 5 and maybe Yummy Fur. I’m going to pick ‘Elevator’ because I would definitely dance to it in an indie disco if there were still any good indie discos left to dance in.”
