Xmas Advent [December 1st] :: Frida Hyvönen
Advent – a time of chocolates and rubbish pictures in a cardboard box… but be disappointed no longer!
This advent, TLOBF are bringing you an aural treat! For each of the days leading up to Christmas, we’ve bothered bands / artists / labels to pick their favourite track of the year, with a brief explanation, which you will be stream for free! Think of it as lots of mini presents from us to you.
Frida Hyvönen recommends… “Blond and Golden Johns” by Larkin Grimm
“I love this song because of how Larkin creates a character and a temperament with her voice and words. It is my favourite song from her album Parplar, which is like a theme album about women. I had Larkin as a guest in my house in the north last Christmas. She had played a winter solstice concert in Umeå. It was magical. She is a genius, an intellectual unruly hippie shaman with a true voice.”
Frida Hyvonen is a Swedish singer-songwriter whose first album, Until Death Comes, was awarded the Stockholm Prize in 2005. Her new album, Silence is Wild, is out in February on Secretly Canadian. She is headlining at Bush Hall in London on February 5.
