Steve Gullick of Tenebrous Liar recommends… “Doves Fly Ahead Of Me” by Black Carrot

“Black Carrot are fucking ace. The album is blinding. I suppose they’re kind of jazz-funk, but not like “jazz-funk” – really fucked up, funny, mental and menacing. I could have chosen many tracks from the album but I love the brooding repetition of this one. Their singer Stuart Brackley sounds like a mix of Preston Long, Eugene Robinson and David Thomas. We were lucky enough to play with them on the opening night of our tour – a proper band!”

Tenebrous Liar are a London-based outfit whose variable membership revolves around photographer and guitarist Steve Gullick and guitarist Tony Ash. Their album Tenebrous Liar’s Last Stand is out now on TV Records.
