Polaroids with Bibi Bourelly
LA via Berlin bluesy-soul-pop singer-songwriter Bibi Bourelly was in town to show off her debut EP and we went analogue to capture some of the backstage magic on Impossible Polaroids.
Bibi Bourelly's Free The Real (Pt. #1) is out now on Def Jam/Island, featuring the singles "Ego" and "Sally", listen to it on Spotify/iTunes/Amazon.
The debut EP captures a laid back, but rebellious energy, switching from the accoustic guitar-led anthem "Riot", to the soulsy blues-pop charm of "Ego". The most recent single "Sally" is a catchy-as-hell funky fuzz bass number, with a video including a cameo from Best Fit fave, Little Simz, whose mixtape track "Interlude" Bourelly featured on.
On top of the Little Simz track, Bourelly also took a superb turn on Nick Brewer's 90s house sampling "Talk To Me", as well as gaining exposure for her writing work on Rihanna's 2015 chart-topper “Bitch Better Have My Money”, along with credits on the other ANTI tracks “Yeah, I Said It”, “Pose” and “Higher".
Following the UK debut at The Great Escape and Bethnal Green Working Men's Club show, the Berlin-born Bourelly played Prince Charles in Berlin, and is now set to support HAIM in Indianapolis, Louisville, Asheville and Knoxville through June, before heading to Rock en Seine in Paris in August.
