Days 2 & 3 – Winchester & Reading

We had a brief stop over at Chris’ mums place where we checked the car over with Nigel. A week before the tour started we blew a tyre. Tour day 1, we realised something was wrong with the engine. We’ve now also discovered a small hole in the exhaust and a headlamp blew! Following a hearty meal and a trip to a friend whose a mechanic, we had the car working better than ever. Motor vehicles are very expensive to run. These issues are pretty dull on a day-to-day radar but a good motor vehicle is essential on a tour where we’re trying to keep costs minimal.

At the Southampton University of Arts Student Union in Winchester: Collectively, had to pretty much put together the PA, sweep the floor and clean the stage from vodka jelly shots. It was a strange night, with no other bands playing. We had to lift our spirits by ingesting some nitrous oxide which went down very well (particularly for Ayu!). Thanks to Corin for working hard on sound and putting us up. It was refreshing being out of the city.

Last night was Reading at the Oakford Social Club. It was an awesome show, great bands including Worship and The Golden Hours. I really think Worship are well on their way to somewhere successful. After the show we had to head back to London for a BBC 6Music interview on the breakfast show. 3 hours sleep! Knackered! Kinda weird doing an interview first thing in the morning and seeing everyone heading to their office jobs! It was only a few weeks ago since we all stopped working but it feels a million miles away already.

The gentrification tour continues to Bournemouth today. We’re calling it Gentrification Tour as so far we’ve eaten very well indeed (Japanese, Thai, Dim Sum) and nobody has been horrendously drunk yet. Tally ho.
