As the Ja Ja Ja night returns, Iceland's Axel Flovent shares his favourite travelling songs
Hailing from the Icelandic fishing village of Husavik, nineteen-year-old singer-songwriter Axel Flovent plies a fine trade in modern folk music, and he's making his way from the Nordic isle down to London this week for the return, after a summer break, of the Ja Ja Ja club night at The Lexington on 24 September.
Given the journey, it's apt then that Mr Flovent has put together a travelling themed playist for us ahead of his appearance alongside Denmark's CHINAH and Norway's The Fjords in North London.
Axel tells us: "These songs have travelled with me through these last few years and have been my 'go to' songs amongst many others for travelling and doing all kinds of work, but there are a few songs in the mix that are pretty newish, and haven’t been travelling with me as much but just had to be included. They are all pretty smooth, from synth pop to melancholic folk and all sorts in between." We think you'll agree that there are some fine choices in there.
You can learn a little more about Axel Flovent via Ja Ja Ja's interview with the Icelander, who is coming to the UK fresh from his appearances at the Berlin and Hamburg club nights.
Listen to the travelling playlist below and if you want to head along to hear great new Nordic music from Flovent and co, tickets are £5 in advance for Ja Ja Ja members (£8 on the door for non-members), and on sale now from Billetto.
