All Apologies: JONES
As JONES releases London, the first in a trilogy of records about her favourite cities, the singer tackles the Best Fit Q&A.
What's your present state of mind and being?
"I am currently in the tube station, logged onto the free WiFi where I'm running slightly late for a meeting...being a time optimist I'm probably feeling more zen than I should."
What’s the most overrated virtue?
"Honesty...? Sometimes the truth is just going to be incredibly painful and a white lie can still tell someone what they need to hear yet spare some feelings."
What one thing have you learnt from your parents?
"To never start smoking cigarettes. Ever."
What and where was the greatest meal you ever ate?
"I am massively cutting back on my meat and general animal product consumption (so not wanting to endorse this place...but) one of the most memorable meals I had was the fried chicken at Sweet Chick in Brookyln the first time I went to New York. It was so insanely good I ate there two days in a row!"
What’s your most treasured possession?
"This one hurts a little to tell...I was given a Pharaonic Talisman - a beautiful and tiny turquoise frog that represented rebirth and resurrection, by someone dear to me. I really felt like it had magical powers and adored it. Unfortunately I put it in my purse one night and consequently had that purse stolen! Still gutted about it."
What was the last dream you had about?
"I dreamt that I had flown to Australia and had met a very tall Aussie man, and then there was someother part to do with a public bathroom - and then another part which had to do with me selling old clothes. No idea what any of that means."
What's the biggest lie on your Wikipedia page?
"I haven't actually read it (kind of don't want to!) - but if I could guess I would say...my age? That's the one people usually get wrong."
If you could say something to your 15-year-old self, what would it be?
"I would say 'You are ok, this feeling will pass...' also - 'Your hair will not always be this difficult to manage!'"
And finally, who would you most like to apologise to and why?
"The real answer I cannot publish, as I hope they never come to find out the thing I am sorry for. But I am sorry and all I can say is that it was part of my journey."
