All Apologies: Sophie Ellis-Bextor
With her sixth album Familia - co-written and produced by Ed Harcourt - about to drop, Sophie Ellis-Bextor takes the Best Fit Q&A.
What's your present state of mind and being?
Happy, thanks. All is well at the mo.
What's the most overrated virtue?
Honesty. In the Big Brother house they are always saying 'if you don't like me, tell it to my face'. I think that's a terrible idea. Sometimes you need little falsities here and there to keep the peace.
What one thing have you learnt from your parents?
Trust your instincts. You've got to go with your gut.
What the most desirable quality you look for in romantic partner?
Kindness. A little bit goes a long way.
What and where was the greatest meal you ever ate?
There's no one meal but I am always happy when we get fish and chips and I think our last few Christmas dinners have been pretty wonderful. That probably gets the top vote because all the family are with me then, too.
What's your most treasured possession?
I have a lot of stuff I love but my I don't know of any of them are treasured. I buy a lot of second hand rubbish. I won't bother saving any of it if there's a fire.
What was the last dream you had about?
It was a super tragic grown up dream that I’d sold our house and exchanged on a new one. I was thinking 'why on earth have I done that?!'.
What's the biggest lie on your Wikipedia page?
I don't know about lie exactly but my middle name is misspelt. It's actually Michell but Wikipedia says 'Michelle'. Not a big deal I know but you do tend to think Wikipedia might at least spell my name right.
If you could say something to your 15-year-old self, what would it be?
I would tell myself not to be so black and white in my opinions but I doubt I'd have listened.
And finally, who would you most like to apologise to and why?
See answer above - anyone I offended with my very strong ideas of what I liked and what I didn't like. I'd be saying 'I hate it when people wear such and such, they're all idiots'. I was wrong.
