All Apologies: Kelis
Pop/R&B superstar Kelis takes the Best Fit Q&A ahead of her summer touring festivals in the UK, including Kendal Calling.
Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Hmm, I would say... Zendaya. She's really cute, let's have her.
What would your superpower be and why?
To teleport, because I'm always late. It's a very practical power.
What's your idea of heaven?
Other than actual heaven... my house! It's my happy place. My kids, some chocolate, some wine (not for my kids, just for me). Just a chilled place. Oh! And rain. It'd be great if it was raining; I love a good thunderstorm and it never happens, especially here in California. I crave a really grey, rainy day - I guess you always want what you can't have, right?
What one thing have you learnt from your parents?
That my voice matters; my opinion matters. Both taught me lots, but I think my mum was really the one that instilled that idea of what you say matters, and to have integrity.
What song do you wish you'd written?
Oh man... golly, that's really hard. The first thing that comes to mind is OutKast's "Hey Ya". When it came out it was just so good... at the time it came out it was fun, clever, and I though it was such a great record.
If you could say something to your 15 year old self, what would it be?
Most of you decisions are gonna be wrong... she's gonna stay positive with those words of encouragement!
What song will they play at your funeral?
I don't really want a funeral. I have no plans for it!
What's your reoccurring nightmare?
Nothing reoccurring, but when I was younger I would have this dream where my teeth were coming out... but not like an appropriate age for it, just like my teeth were always loose. I don't know what that means.
What five people would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?
I have dinner parties all the time... I've had my fantasy dinner party!
And finally, who would you most like to apologise to and why?
I generally apologise when I've done something wrong. I don't really have anything lingering over my head. I'm a Christian so I confess my sins to the Lord, but other than that, I can't think of anyone that I have to say sorry to. I try to make sure I apologise before it becomes an issue!
Kelis plays Kendall Calling festival, which takes place 28-31 July. Tickets are available now from.
