With her brand new album The Still Life due out tomorrow via Bella Union, Alessi Laurent–Marke – aka Alessi’s Ark – takes the Best Fit Q&A and tells us all about her nightmares, her fantasy dinner party and who she’d most like to apologies to.

Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Hayley Mills.

What would your superpower be and why?
To fly. Not only would it be beautiful to see the world from above, but I’d love to deliver the hugs in person that I think about so often. Friends and family are sometimes so far. Physically.

What’s your idea of heaven?
A world wide picnic. Warm weather, lovingly made food and lots of time together, outside.

What one thing have you learnt from your parents?
If you have your health, you have everything.

What song do you wish you’d written?
Red Sun by Neil Young.

If you could say something to your 15 year old self, what would it be?
Three things ; be patient, don’t worry and you will find a friend.

What’s your re-occurring nightmare?
That I have to return to school to sit an important exam that I’m not prepared for. Or having to sing a Japanese song I cannot get my mind around, in front of all of the students at the secondary school I went to.

What song will they play at your funeral?
I’ll leave it to my family to decide. We like a lot of the same music. Something they can dance to.

What five people would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?
Pina bausch, Jacques Tati, Win Wenders, Werner Herzog and François Truffaut.

Who would you most like to apologise to and why?
Anyone I’ve hurt because I didn’t mean to.
