Avelino announces debut album with RA collaboration "God Save The Streets Pt. 2"
Avelino has announced his debut album God Save The Streets, and has teamed up with RA for the first outing "God Save The Streets Pt. 2".
"God Save The Streets Pt. 2" marks Avelino's first new material since May's "Mercedes Coupe" and "Magick" tracks, and sees him unite with Brixton's RA.
Avelino says of the track, "Ultimately I chose "God Save The Streets Pt. 2" as the first single because it encapsulates everything that’s great about the album in one song. It has a narrative, it’s exciting, it's unique and it’s hard hitting. And most of all, it's unapologetically British, from influences on production, to my performance, down to the inspiration behind the title.
God Save The Streets will follow Avelino's 2021 project EGO KILLS. The forthcoming record is executive produced by Wretch 32 and overseen by Fraser T Smith.
"It’s not as simple as 'put the knives down'," Avelino says. "You have to appeal to a person’s state of mind. If you can get someone to work on their mindset and recognise that they have choices then eventually they don’t relate to crime and violence."
He adds, "God Save The Streets is my perspective and feelings towards the environment I was raised in. It's me shedding light on the mayhem of what I and many others have grown to recognise as the norm. Many precious souls will lose out to the vicious cycle and fewer will ever be free, my hope is that this album is a motivation to the prior and testimony to the latter."
"God Save The Streets Pt. 2" featuring RA is out now. Avelino's debut album God Save The Streets will arrive in March 2023, and is available to pre-order now.
