"Girlfriend At The Time" is another scorching pop anthem from Emily Burns
"Girlfriend At The Time" is an infectious piece of perfect pop from the 22-year-old maverick.
Featuring bouncing synths and effortlessly catchy lyrics, the song sees Emily Burns explore what many would call the 'honeymoon period' in a relationship, where you're completley in love and can't ever imagine life apart from that significant other.
Yet, it's not just about being sickenly in love, as Burns explores the inner insecurity that can come with young relationships and the ever-looming possibility that it might all fall apart at any moment, as she sings "I don't want to be the one that got away / Don't let me another missed mistake"
Explaining the inspiration behind the song, Burns explains: "I wrote this song when I was in the super early stages of a new relationship… that point where you can’t get enough of that one person. I think people get scared when things are going well, I know because I’m the worst for it! So with this song, I was trying to say, don't freak out, just take it as it comes and be in the moment."
