Anna Ternheim – The Longer The Waiting, The Sweeter The Kiss (Best Fit Session)

It’s a fairly impressive feat that two of the year’s best Americana albums originate from Sweden: First Aid Kit’s Mike Mogis produced The Lion’s Roar and Anna Terheim’s sublime The Night Visitor.

Swedish in origin, but with an American heart – Ternheim’s new record was written and recorded in Nashville with some of the cities finest session musicians on hand to create an intimate and revealing collection of songs. The highlight comes in the shape of ‘The Longer The Waiting (The Sweeter The Kiss)’ – a cover of the Pat McLaughlin classic – is as sweet and tender as they come. An ode patience and sung with a quiet grace with additional vocals from Dave Ferguson; when we met with Anna last month there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
