Vinyl sales increase by 2000% on Record Store Day 2014
Last Saturday saw this year’s outing of Record Store Day - the annual event celebrating independent shops and music outlets - take place around the world, with sales figures showing the entire thing to be a complete success.
According to figures from BuzzAngle Music, vinyl sales saw a boost on the day of 2,042% while total sales at independent stores worldwide increased by 646% from the week prior. Vinyl sales also accounted for 74% of all products sold on Record Store Day.
Elsewhere, other statistics show Tame Impala’s live EP to be the most popular Record Store Day item, along with Nirvana’s “Pennyroyal Tea” 7-inch. You can check out the Top 25 albums and singles sold on the day right now below, via The 405.
