Rivers Cuomo releases J-Pop album, stream a track now
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has always been inclined towards the peculiar realm of things. He has a prog-metal side-project, meditates religiously, vows against swearing and, err, is also a fan of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. Now, he’s only gone and recorded an album mostly in the Japanese tongue.
Taking a break from his main band for a while, Cuomo has teamed up with Scott Murphy of pop-punk outfit Allister for new J-Pop venture, Scott & Rivers. They’ve released their self-titled debut, and probable only release under the moniker, out right now available digitally through Delicious Deli and Universal Music Japan.
The record’s lead track, ‘Homely Girl’ can be streamed below. Cuomo’s impressive use of Japanese can probably be attributed to his Tokyo-born wife, Kyoko Ito.
The album’s tracklist is as follows:
1 Break Free
2 Homely Girl
3 Freakin’ Love My Life
4 おかしいやつ
5 朝は近い
6 終わりのないこの詩
7 遠く離れても
8 I Need Somebody
9 はじける
10 ほどけていたんだ
11 Butterfly
12 君と二人で
