Mercury Prize winning artist, Speech Debelle is among the contestants on the new series of BBC’s Celebrity Masterchef.
The rapper, who was the surprise recipient of the 2009 Mercury Prize for her album Speech Therapy, is appearing on the show alongside fellow musician and Sugababe Heidi Range as well as Ronnie Wood’s wife Jo Wood.
Speech Debelle’s career has not rocketed following the Mercury Prize win in 2009. She left her record label Big Dada citing their supposed failure to capitalize on the win by keeping up demand for the album.
Debelle later reconciled with the label and her second album Freedom of Speech was released in 2012 to mixed reviews.
