Massive Attack art book to be released next month
A new 400-page book is to be released documenting the art and “visual history” of Bristol trip-hoppers Massive Attack.
The band have long been known for the importance they place on aesthetic, with Banksy himself once saying “When I was about ten years old, a kid called 3D was painting the streets hard. 3D quit painting and formed the band Massive Attack, which may have been a good thing for him but was a big loss for the city.”
Now, for the first time ever 3D’s art is going to be showcased in full, with 3D and the art of Massive Attack coming out via The Vinyl Factory on 28 October.
A press release reads: “Robert’s artwork has come to define the iconic style of his band and the book explores their visual history, presenting both familiar and previously unseen work, from his influential graffiti and stencil art in the Wild Bunch-era of the ‘80s to Massive Attack cover designs and paste-ups and paintings.”
A special boxset edition of the book will also come with a 12″ vinyl of unreleased music. You can check out some of its contents beneath, with more info on the book here.
