Derek Watkins, the trumpeter who played on every James Bond soundtrack from Dr No to Skyfall, has passed away aged 68.
BBC News report that Watkins died at his home on Friday (22 March).
The musician, regarded as ”the foremost British Big Band trumpet player”, had also performed with the likes of The Beatles, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Frank Sinatra during his 40+ year career.
He’s survived by a wife and three children. Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this time.
