Godspeed You! Black Emperor win Canada's Polaris Music Prize 2013
Montreal post-rock outfit, Godspeed You! Black Emperor have won Canada’s own Polaris Prize for their first album in ten years, revealed at a ceremony last night.
The annual accolade is given to what the Polaris panel deem to be the best album made in the last 12 months by any Canadian artist, regardless of genre.

Godspeed won the prize for their album ‘Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend!. As FACT point out, the band are donating their $30,000 winnings to help fund music programs in the Quebec prison system. They’ve released a full statement on the feat.
