Death Grips pull no-show at Lollapalooza, fans wreck their gear
Death Grips will not make it to Chicago to fill their Saturday night slot at Lollapalooza tonight, nor did they appear at a sold-out ‘after-show’ last night at the city’s Bottom Lounge.
The response to the latter was clearly intense, with dismayed fans destroying on-stage equipment, including a drum kit, which presumably was theirs to play.
A rep for the venue, via Pitchfork, reportedly said, “We are still getting bits and pieces of information but we were not aware that Death Grips was not coming until right before we made the announcement.” The rep also thanked those who were “terribly disappointed” but also “very understanding,” and said tickets were in the process of being refunded.
As for their upcoming Lolla slot, they have already been replaced by Bad Things, which features Olympic snowboarder Shaun White on guitar.
