AlunaGeorge launch shopping centre music showcase
AlunaGeorge have become the first act to play a set at London’s Westfield Shopping Centre as part of an initiative for emerging talent, in the same week they unveiled their debut album Body Music
Westfield Presents sees new and emerging acts perform at the Shepherd’s Bush and Stratford shopping centres, drawn from a pool including the BRIT School, University of West London, Emerging Icons, Tech Music School, Universal and the Mayor of London gigs competition.
“Westfield continually seeks to innovate and find ways to delight consumers when they visit our malls,” says centre MD Michael Gutman. “We’re also incredibly proud of supporting aspiring artists with a variety of indoor and outdoor and large and small venues in which to showcase their talent.”
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London comments: ‘Westfield Presents is a fantastic addition to the capital’s great line up of summer events. As well as providing free entertainment to shoppers it’s a wonderful opportunity for up and coming musicians to play to new audiences and gain exposure and I’m pleased some our gigs artists will be taking part.’
