Spooky atmospherics are carved open by some thick soulful ooohs, glitzy guitars and snapping snares on ‘Platoon’, the debut track from Chess Club Records’ new signing, Jungle.
Quickly gathering tempo, it becomes a sort of mildly stoned stamp through an undergrowth teeming with musky drum fills and flickering, reverb-slathered guitars by the mid-section. Although at the very heart of this groovy little safari lie those marvelously primal hoot and howl vocal harmonies; tempting us, luring us further into the sweat-drenched melody like the promise of lost gold among buzzing flora and fauna.
The elusive outfit will release ‘Platoon’ – and accompanying track ‘Drops’ – on 15 July via Chess Club Records.
