Groves sign to [Pias] Different Recordings, air mathy electronic stomper "Do You Feel"
Groves make a welcome return with "Do You Feel", their most ambitious song to date.
The track's complex mesh of jumpy beats, meandering bass, blippy synth, and interlaced guitars bring much of Foals' early math-rock to mind. Add in delicate vocals gliding over the ethereal electronics and Caribou's subtler cuts also come to the fore.
The South London band's material has been a little thin on the ground since their fantastic debut "Paperback" in 2013, but it's been purposely so. Groves have in the past jammed their schedules with semi-secretive warehouse party gigs, determined to find their sound naturally before committing anything to record.
Tracks like the subdued "Send High" have since followed but "Do You Feel" is the band's most vibrant and accessible song date. It feels like Groves are ready to come further out of the shadows, and we're willing to help shed the light.
