Sweden's DNKL remix VUURWERK's "G.R.I.P" to typically epic effect [Premiere]
DNKL are endlessly capable of spinning cinematic charm into whatever they touch. Take Flemish trio VUURWERK's nocturnal "G.R.I.P" (feat. Climb X) and hear just how cleverly they both brighten and boost it.
The original "G.R.I.P" scuttles with UK Garage beats, but the remix thrusts with syncopated tribal beats. Where Climb X's intimate vocals are very much at the heart of VUURWERK'S original, they are slightly glazed over on the rework as DNKL allow the percussion and trance-inspired synths to flourish. And that's no bad thing.
DNKL's work shifts "G.R.I.P" from intimate bedroom electronica to an open and euphoric piece of music. Wonderful stuff.
G.R.I.P. EP is released on 18 May via Lo Recordings.
