Listen: Daddy Issues - Lethal Dose [Premiere]
Psychology can be some heavy, messy stuff. Jim Morrison famously indulged his Freudian fixation in dramatic and outrageous fashion on The Doors’ “The End”. Fortunately, the ladies of Daddy Issues acquit themselves far more simply and amusingly than Morrison or their Jungian namesake.
Hailing from Greensboro in central North Carolina, the quartet is a prime example of the naïve, yet mischievous brand of indie pop cropping up across the state these days. We here at Best Fit are proud to premiere “Lethal Dose”, a track from their upcoming debut EP, Double Loser.
Built atop a refreshingly unfussy and impossibly charming swoon, vocalist/guitarist Lo Davy stews over the love/hate pull of her beau. Her sugary coo can’t help but elicit our empathy, playing it so impressively doe-eyed and straight faced, you may very well miss her deliciously snide jab at her fella's knack for being out of sync between the sheets.
Double Loser lovingly releases on 14 February on cassette and digitally via Negative Fun Records and Egghunt Records. Both formats can be preordered at each label's site here and here. Catch the band live stateside at the following East Coast dates:
