Listen: Terror Pigeon - "The Internet" [Premiere]
Terror Pigeon are on the cusp of releasing new LP Yucksongs!, but before that happens we've got a delicious little ditty to premiere called "The Internet".
Rammed with sleigh bells and tender atmospherics, the DIY indie-pop collective spew a type of energised balladry. The vocals are sodden with regret: "you can't see the remorse/sorry just cannot get through..." and see Terror Pigeon lurch into jarring maturity - á la Los Campesinos!, they tend to tackle tough situations with humour and juxtaposed bombast, but this time they've erred towards sincerity. It's a wonderful contrast to their usual clipart and Kitty-esque self-awareness.
Speaking about the fresh noise, vocalist Neil Fridd explains some key facts about "The Internet":
"Stuff that seems notable about The Internet is 1) Malee Bringardner handles lead vocals. She is a perfect human. 2) I think the lyrics are clear enough but if anyone wants to know what this song is about watch that scene from the new Planet of the Apes movie where Gary Oldman gets electricity and the first thing he does is charge his iPad so he can look at pictures of his dead kids."
Yucksongs! is out 5 January via In Stereo Records/Fierce Panda.
