Kinds reveal infectious electro-R&B number "Turn It Out"
UK pair Kinds are airing their latest slice of golden pop, "Turn It Out", on Best Fit ahead of a new London show next week.
This new single's got buoyant melodies and catchy vocals aplenty - it's an intoxicating mesh of sleek R&B and nebulous piano-pop, and it'll get you to your feet in no time. Despite the peppy tones, "Turn It Out" isn't as light as it first seems...
The band's Mark Morrish and Karen Warner explain: "'The song's coming from a very dark place... it’s about dealing with certain events and emotions in our lives to create something empowering and uplifting. We wanted to replicate this with the emotion in the lyrics and instrumentation in the verses, set against the heavy rhythms with optimism shining through in the chorus. Instead of immersing ourselves in this dark state we wanted to create a song with a level of optimism set against these negative thoughts and experiences."
Kinds are set to perform a free show at London's Birthdays on 7 September.
