German duo KEAH's new track "Liars" is a bewitching web of beats and bass
Newcomers Jonas Holle and Marc Rauscher, aka KEAH, share a new track from their forthcoming debut EP, the slow-burning but ultimately rewarding "Liars".
Caught at the start in a tangled mesh of hand claps, electronic fizzes and metallic percussion, "Liars" builds gradually until the refrain "And it felt like you were making a fool out of me" stands stoic around the two-minute mark.
The dampening of components, here left with Rauscher's breathy vocals circling above, is the point at which "Liars" truly comes into its own, paving the way for sounds to interlock and tempos to skewer.
The newly-formed duo split their time between a small cabin in the Bavarian woods and their recording studio in Kreuzberg, Berlin, which could well explain the song's busy ideas and interesting idiosyncrasies.
We'll certainly be listening out for more.
