FTSE blends techno sounds and agitated wit on new single "This Is Life" [Premiere]
FTSE - AKA multi-instrumentalist/producer Sam Manville - is sharing his new single "This Is Life" ahead of debut LP Joyless.
The track works crispy hip-hop percussion and siren-like synths with Manville's "estate state of mind". Techno beats worm their way into the dub-flecked melee, and like a dance-poised Jamie T, we see FTSE ricochet through his disenfranchisement with a bone-dry wit. It might be an endless source of dancefloor vibes, but there's a poignancy underneath the electronics and wryness that resonates particularly strongly in 2015.
Manville also fronts GET HOT, his rock-tinged project with Jakwob, who played our new music showcase back in January.
FTSE's debut record Joyless is out 28 August via Lucky Number. The new single is due out 25 September.
