Watch: Fol Chen - "Boys In The Woods" [Premiere]
LA’s Fol Chen have been divulging their own brand of “Melodramatic Popular Song” for almost half a decade, in which they have released three albums, meddled with weird electronic transmissions and subverted the notion of what a pop song is.
Following the 2013 release of their third album The False Alarms (via Asthmatic Kitty Records) the band now unveil video for their latest single, “Boys In The Woods”, directed and animated by Nancy Jean Tucker who also shot the band’s “No Wedding Cake”. The monotonic vocals and fully synthesised ditty play over the minimalistic and sometimes optical illusion-inducing video. You’ll see singing deers and anthropomorphic rabbits masked as lions chasing their peers in a forest, all overseen by a baseball cap-wearing eagle. It’s strange, but simply glorious.
