Charlotte Carpenter streams The Fault Line EP ahead of its release on Friday
Charlotte Carpenter is streaming upcoming EP The Fault Line on Best Fit ahead of its release later this week.
Carpenter swans into earshot with bold songwriting on this, her fifth EP. With dark Americana and dusty country-rock at the forefront, its a distinctly different kind of singer/songwriter sound, and it makes for an enthralling listen.
Speaking about the EP, Carpenter says: "I wrote this EP during a time where a lot of what I loved stopped feeling perfect. I began to feel quite splintered and fractured, when many things I loved were no longer in-sync with each other. I hadn’t long lost my nan so was processing the idea of death and the natural cycle of a lifetime. I was finding my feet with balancing a day job with a music career and struggling to find the courage to talk about problems in a relationship. I guess, I wrote this when I felt change in the biggest way for the first time. It was un-settling for a while but I feel grateful I have a way to vent... it’s easy to sugar coat a problem with a nice metaphor, but I think I’ve been quite blunt with some of these songs."
Carpenter's The Fault Line EP is out 13 November on Let It Go Records.
