Blueyes delivers a breathy, sensual debut track that feels good in all the right places
Before she started making music under the Blueyes name, opera was the first calling of Bronagh Monahan.
Growing up surrounded by classical music, Monahan was set to follow in the footsteps of her great aunt - a famous Irish soprano from the 1930s - and left home at 18 to study opera in Scotland. Railroaded by a love of Destiny's Child, Aaliya and Amy Winehouse, Monahan began to write a very different music in her spare time and found her voice as an artist after moving to London last year.
As Blueyes, her debut track "Skin" finds the Belfast-born singer/songwriter exploring sense reaction and imaging "how it feels to be whispered to." The breathy slow dance cut simmers with a confidence and allure and is taken from Monahan's debut EP, set for a 24 November release.
