Stream IS TROPICAL's new album 'I'm Leaving' in full
The risque clip to IS TROPICAL’s recent single, ‘Dancing Anymore’, what we pre-emptively labelled “video of the year”, has racked up a whopping 800k views on Vimeo, having been banned from Youtube within a hour of its initial uploading. Compare this to the 74,359 listens on Soundcloud, under 10% of its Megaforce-directed treatment, and the London trio could be slated as shock over substance.
But as ever with the French film team’s work (MIA, Yeah Yeah Yeahs et al), they sure know how to pick ‘em, their stamp of approval becoming almost synonymous with forward-thinking dance-pop. And the new record from IS TROPICAL, I’m Leaving out on Kitsune come Monday (20 May), is no different. Combining elements of noise-rock, tribal beat, 70s psych and Parisian-inspired electro, the ten tracks are just as striking as the image of a teenager imagining fellatio from a mermaid.
