Watch 90-minute Pussy Riot documentary on BBC iPlayer
A feature-length documentary based around Russian punk outfit and protest group, Pussy Riot, is set to be shown on BBC Four next week, today airing on BBC iPlayer before hand.
Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer picked up an award at last year’s Sundance festival, following the anti-Putin faction from their initial arrest, criminal trials and appeals.
Last year, three members of the band were found guilty of “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred” and were sentenced to two years in jail following the performance in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The song requested that the Virgin Mary drive Russian president Vladimir Putin from power.
Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Maria Alyokhina, 24 and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30, have been named prisoners of conscience by Amnesty International. Samutsevich was released last October.
Watch the documentary over at the BBC website. It’s available to stream until 21 October.
