Elephant could legit win the award for time spent on artist development. First emerging in July 2010 – debuting their modern day lullabies at Best Fit’s own club night – the duo have slowly been carving away at their sound which will finally culminate with their long promised debut LP in 2014.
The pair, Amelia Rivas and Christian Pinchbeck, are set to release new single “Shapeshifter” on November 4 through the ever reliable Memphis Industries. The cinematic, sweeping track is backed by perhaps Elephant’s starkest moment to date – “Snowday”, which premieres at Best Fit today.
Awash with gently cooing vocal harmonies and a classic chord sequence, Rivas’ melodies sit beautifully against a swelling vintage organ and tinkling percussion. It’s as if, with this contrasting combination of A and B side, Elephant finally feel totally at ease in their skin.
